Ian Tracey

Gemini Award-winning actor Ian Tracey was born on Vancouver Island and raised in B.C.’s Lower Mainland. Ian began his career early, going for his first professional audition at age 11, and at 14 played the lead in Huckleberry Finn and His Friends. He later took several years away from acting to work at various jobs around the Lower Mainland, including film and television lighting jobs, before returning to performance.

As well as his leading performance in Rupert's Land, his film work has included Owning Mahowny, Emile, (with Ian McKellan), Cellmates, and Open Range; his television work includes Milgaard, for which he won both Gemini and Leo Awards for Best Actor, and Rookies, for which he received a 1991 Gemini.

Ian is now in his seventh year as Detective Leary on the acclaimed Da Vinci's Inquest, for which he has also directed a number of episodes, and will be starring in his own series, Intelligence, set to debut on CBC in the coming year.

"[Dale] is a fish out of water, struggling, floundering."

"It's a tremendous pleasure to be working with someone like Samuel West ... he's a consummate professional and very pleasant, just a dream to work with day after day ... [and] I feel very fortunate to be working with people like George [Wendt].”
